So today is my first day of not working. But, I'm not classifying myself a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM for future reference) just yet. We made the decision to have the girls go to daycare for 2 weeks beyond my last day of work. This is an opportunity for me to get some things done around the house (like catch up on General Hospital (GH) on my DVR). No really, I plan on doing a bunch of cleaning and organizing so that spending loads of time at my house for the next year or two is a little less crazy. I also firmly believe that being organized helps you to save money. More on that another time.
After watching one episode of GH (I was only half kidding about catching up on that), I was attempting to clean and organize our craft supplies and I realized that we have enough craft supplies for a small army. For real, I was afraid that an avalanche of construction paper, glue sticks, glitter, markers, well you get the point, would come toppling down on me and I'd be done as a SAHM before I even started. One of my projects this week will be to organize my one million (slight exaggeration) Pinterest craft ideas with my overstocked craft supply cupboard to come up with a mini-curriculum for the first couple of weeks of my SAHM job. That's right, I called it a job. It is one, one that I take very seriously. I've already started to put together a calendar of when our local libraries have age-appropriate craft and story times for our girls. I've been bookmarking websites with printable learning worksheets for various ages. I have been actively researching how to be a SAHM. LOL. For those that know me, this is probably not surprising. I am lucky to have had an amazing role model in my own mother. I'm trying to grasp bits and pieces from her and I just hope and pray that her guidance, coupled with my ongoing research will help me to be adequate at this job. Well, off to pick up the girls!! Day one of vacation is over :-)
